Riding

Riding can provide both physical therapy and mental stimulation. The warmth and three dimensional movement of the horse is transmitted through the rider’s body gradually making it more relaxed and supple, strengthening core stability, and improving balance, posture and co-ordination.

The Group organises riding sessions at the Kimblewick Equestrian Centre at North Tuddenham, Dereham. The Centre has an outdoor arena and a pool of horses and ponies which have been carefully selected for their suitability as RDA mounts.

Riding sessions take place after school on Wednesdays from 4.00pm until 6.00pm. Up to four riders take part on each session which lasts 30 minutes. The lessons are taught by qualified RDA instructors and assisted by a team of dedicated volunteers. Once a rider joins the Group they stay with us for as long as they wish to ride or until they reach the age of 16 years.

We have a wide selection of equipment and activities that help to make our rides beneficial, stimulating and, most importantly, enjoyable for all those who ride with us.

The majority of our riders join the Group through direct approaches from their parents, careers or health care professional.
