About us

The Mid Norfolk Group was established in 1985, in the beginning using facilities near to Dereham.

It then moved to Street Farm, North Tuddenham and over the next few years the Group bought a number of its own ponies, including Foxy who was a firm favourite with all her riders until she retired in 1998.

At this time all riding was undertaken out of doors and subject to the prevailing weather conditions. An offer from the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH and now named World Horse Welfare), who were able to provide both indoor and outdoor arenas and a selection of suitable ponies, was accepted and the group moved to Overa House Farm, Larling in 1994. A highlight of this period was a visit from HRH the Princess Royal when she attended a riding demonstration by the Group.

In the autumn of 2000 the Group moved yet again to the Eden Meadows Riding Centre at Rocklands, close to Attleborough, where it remained until the end of 2025, providing regular riding sessions for both adults and children.

The Group has now gone ‘full circle’ and, in September 2025 it returned to North Tuddenham and is based at the Kimblewick Equestrian Centre. The difficult decision was taken to discontinue the adult riding sessions due to demands on resources and the coaching team. The riding sessions for children up to the age of 16 years, however, continue and are held on a Wednesday afternoon during the school term.
